Evaluation Scheme for Courses included in Curriculum offered from A.Y. 2023-24
College of Engineering, Pune follows a Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE) process followed by a Semester End Examination (SEE). The continuous Internal Evaluation is done throughout the semester in the form of mid-semester examinations, tests, assignments, group discussions etc. The terminal examination is conducted usually in co-ordination with an external examiner. The CIE and SEE are given equal weightage.
The college follows the relative grading procedure. Based on the student’s performance, he is awarded a letter grade with its corresponding grade point. Based on this, the student’s Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) is calculated according to the following rule:
where, n is the number of courses registered during the semester,
Ci is the number of credits allotted to a particular course, and
Gi is the grade points corresponding to the grade awarded for the course. (For example, an AA grade will correspond to 10 grade points).
Each student is awarded an SGPA every semester and from these, the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated as follows:
where, m is the number of courses registered upto that semester,
Ci is the number of credits allotted to a particular course, and
Gi is the grade points corresponding to the grade awarded for the course.
